Always practical in any kitchen a pot-holder is always a great gift-idea. Making your own square pot-holder to decorate and use in your kitchen is a way to leave your unique mark.
Made in a circular motion, the single crochet stitches are worked in the same direction to keep a clean and lean look. The dimensions are ca. 6 1/2 in. x 6 1/2 in. (16 cm x 16 cm).

Materials Needed for this Square Crochet Pot-Holder
Choose your own Autumn colors. Choice in the photo:
1 crochet thread cotton dark red, and/or corn yellow,
1 crochet thread cotton teal green,
1 crochet hook 3.5 mm (E-4),
Written Instructions to Square Pot-Holder
cs = chain stitch
sc = single crochet stitch
sl st = slip stitch
The thread colors in the photo- and video-instructions vary from the Autumn post picture.
For the first row:
Start with a slip knot on your hook. Make a loop with the tail-end of the yarn. Make 6 single crochet (sc) around the loop of the tail-end. Tighten to a circle by pulling the tail-end. Make a slip stitch (sl st) to connect this row.
For the second row:
Start with a chain stitch (cs) for the hight of a sc, and make two sc in each previous sc stitch for a total count of 12 sc. Connect this row with a sl st.
For the third and following rows:
3rd round: 1 cs, repeat 4x [3 sc in first of previous sc and 1 sc in each previous 2 sc] to make a square, connect with 1 sl st.
4th round: 1 cs, repeat 4x [3 sc in first of previous sc and 1 sc in each previous 4 sc], connect with 1 sl st.
5th to 30th round: 1 cs, repeat 4x [3 sc in first of previous sc and 1 sc in each previous sc by adding 2 sc to each straight row-section], connect with 1 sl st.
Change thread to white crochet threat (or alternative color) and proceed the last sc-row as before.
Make the finishing slip stitches in this row and in first corner chain 10 stitches, sl st into next sc, 1 cs, 12 sc around chain, sl st onto project and sl st around project.
